The European Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure (BBMRI-ERIC) improves the accessibility and interoperability of the existing comprehensive collections, either population-based or clinical-oriented, of biological samples from different (sub)populations of Europe.
With 20 member states and one international organisation, we are one of the largest research infrastructures in Europe. Our Directory lists over 600 biobanks and over 100 million samples and datasets, accessible through the Negotiator tool.
BBMRI-ERIC provides guidance for ethics management and validates best practices and recommendations.
We bring together all the main players from the biobanking field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical research. To that end, we offer quality management services, support with ethical, legal and societal issues, and a number of online tools and software solutions.
Ultimately, our goal is to make new treatments possible.
